Yeah? I really do not want to go through the hassle with no right to access my own files on my own computer! Some one, give me a fix!
I did a clean install on my Vista over the weekend and replaces my Hard drive with 320GB from 200GB which is a 3 years old drive. To my surprise I can no longer view some of my files from my old partitions.
Google it up I found out I’m not alone facing this dilemma! Basically you lost the right to access your own files. How very pretty! You can, however fix the problem “one by one”! If you have lot of files like me, assigning permission one by one is not the way! Cursing Microsoft seem discern at this point (LOL…)
Anyway here a simple step you can do to assign ownership permission to your files in Vista.
On your file, right click> Properties> Security> Advanced> Owner> Edit> Continue> Other Users or groups> Advanced> Find Now> Double click any user you like>”OK” all the way till it closes entire the menu
On the same file again, right click> properties> Security> Advanced> Edit> Add> Advanced> Find Now> Double click the user you have choose earlier> OK> under “allow” Click “Full control”> OK> OK
Now you can view your file 
I can’t use these step to assign my files, simply too many files to go through. So I need Vista Hotfix or maybe some one out there already have the program that may help address this issue.
For now… I’m living my files in zombie state!

Well.. if .iso from the net burned onto DVD can be genuine ))) It is. It just works ))
Not planning to use. Maybe whenever i will need DirectX10 to play somthing.. (will need new graphics card before.. and overally new PC..) not very soon )

anyway… Microsoft chops Vista retail prices! sound nice for those who want to change to new OS. looking at the poll, don’t seem to work

btw, since linux fully supports NTFS you can use any modern distribution LiveCD to access files on NTFS disk, try to boot and copy )
depends on the content, *nix may have problems with copyright protected content with things like DRM etc etc

I have seen Ubuntu in action. The only thing that I can’t live without is the coolness of OS or their apps. It’s to plain. I am a Home media freak… can’t live without my Window Media center off even when I’m not watching TV or Movie. I want to save my time from trying to fix the whole thing on a UNIX base system hehehhee
I think there are plenty of apps to meet my needs right? But I am still not convincing on the “coolness” part LOL I’m a freak!
