Gong Xi Gong Xi to all my followers to my humble blog. This is truly one awesome water dragon year and I like to wish every one of you a prosperous health, money and life.

To those that already married – dragon baby maybe keep your parents and in-law smile a whole life time so please get to work stop using protection for god sake ROFL.

Kuching Flood News The Mother Calling Kho Yong Qi To Come Home

On 05 Jan 2012 early morning, after sending the sibling to school Kho Yong Qi uses the short cut from Batu Lintang and there’s where the car she was driving broken down and stuck in a massive down pour of rain and flash flood water started to rise. She later call the mother and inform about the incident.

Photo below was taken by me perhaps 1 or 2 hours later – one of the car (rumors a ~~Toyota~~ Proton Saga and it’s a new car) is belong to Kho which is already under the water.

The mother later inform Kho to walk to the nearest Batu Lintang shell station to wait for her and so she did…

The high level of water makes it hard to defferentiate between road and big drain – at this point the one person that do not know how to swim Herman Sinas, 29 who work at the shell station saw Kho was struggling in the water – jump to her rescue. He had her hair but that was not enough to pull Kho up and eventually he jump right in and both MIA at the scene.

07 Jan 2012 Herman Sinas, 29, was found in a drain that leads to Sungai Maong at about 8.30am Saturday some 2km from where he tried to save Kho Ying Qi. Search for Kho is on going.

According to the person who taken the photo above – The mother and family of Kho when to the bridge calling for Kho to come home. Hearing the mother’s calling out for Kho – I lost words to describe how sad it has been.

Kuching Flood News Could This Be The Place Where the Girl Has Fallen?

Kuching is in chaos this morning. The stories of a girl who tripped over a drain and immediately carried away by the strong water flow have not been reported found.

#Updates – it is learned that the victim and the rescuer (form Six student Kho Yong Qi and petrol station cashier Herman Sihas, 29) ~~their body has been found, although there’s no confirmation of this we shall know when we have the official news.~~

06 Jan 2012 the news this morning reported – since 11pm last night it was not found.
07 Jan 2012 Body Found – Herman Sinas, 29
08 Jan 2012 Still no news of the body of Kho Yong Qi
09 Jan 2012 ~~Finally the body of Kho found at Jalan Keratapi.~~ false alarm
10, 11, 12… Jan 2012 No news of Kho found.
20 Jan 2012 Body of Kho was found at river near Sejingkat Kuching. That’s at least more than 10KM from the place where she was drown and subsequently wash away by monsoon drain.

Some said the head was missing, the mom blame her self for the death of her own daughter etc… Whatever is it – may her soul rest in peace.

I was at the area this morning the flood from 3rd miles to Batu Lintang is bad. The changing pattern of tide trigger the higher level of water and worse – the heavy rains since last night making the situation even harder for our Kuching sewer to handle.

Kuching Sentral Opening 1 February 2012

Kuching Sentral – Opening February 1 2012

Originally tentatively to be open during Christmas (I guess) than it was delay to January but reckon that would be not a great month to rush so the new date was February 2012.

Kuching Sentral was developed by shoes seller boss (Leagroup) & friends and designed by Akimedia – which very well known to people in Kuching. This development immediately put 7 miles (Penrissen and Kota Sentosa) a hot destination, development and investment.

For many years Kuching was never seen in the position as a priority for development. We have the lousiest public transport facilities to be ashamed of and many went out of business.

That’s my personal opinion – to me you don’t need to have new building open every other week expend the land and make way for construction and pollute the beautiful green landscape. More developments doesn’t always mean good – more green would gone and perhaps 10 years from now it would have nothing left.

Kuching Sentral by far the respectable construction that I agree it feed the real need for the people of Sarawak.

Kudos to the developers.

Giant Hypermarket Kota Padawan 10th Miles is now open for business. 3rd Giant Hypermarket in Sarawak opening day on 25th October attracting customer as far as from Serian.

2 month prior the second Giant Hypermarket Kota Padawan open for business – The first Giant Hypermarket Tabuan Jaya marking the first grand opening in Kuching On 25th August 2011.

Jong’s Crocodile Farm In Borneo Since 1963

Welcome To Sarawak! If you’re visiting Kuching Sarawak, don’t miss out on Jong’s Crocodile Farm. Interested to find out how the local man ended up in the stomach of the maneater? be sure to visit the one and only famous crocodile farm in Kuching and you will be thrilled right through your spine with our local legend, Bujang Senang!

My last visit to Jong’s Crocodile Farm was in october 2007 and during my visit I took a photo of Malayan Sunbear (Helaretos Malayanus). Today’s visit is to see if our Malayan Sunbear is doing okay and how big have they grown.

These Malayan Sunbear is the smallest bear in the world and they seem very lazy – remind me of the Koala Bear. My sunday has been great and I’m happy to report that the bears is doing fantastic and posing for camera beautifully. (check out the photos)

Do you know? Sarawak The Land of Hornbills is also famous for one other thing – head hunters! is the also reason how James Brooke became the first Rajah in Sarawak.

The best time to visit Jong’s Crocodile Farm
The Feeding time of the crocs is at 11am and 3pm. The opening hours of Jong’s Crocodile Farm is from 9am to 5pm. I missed the feeding time for the crocs – I’d love to take few shots of the jumping crocs.

I really enjoy watching the peacocks although he did not really pose for me that much! other attraction that may interest you includes Arapaima Pond, Skull of Bujang Senang, world first Tomistoma Breeding, Jungle walk and etc…

Controversial
Jong’s Crocodile Farm in Jun 2011 was pressured by the Anti-animal cruelty through media in demand to follow their recommendation for the crocodiles and other animals in the captive. The Hong Kong-based anti animal cruelty group believe the farm owner has violated the Sarawak Wild Life Protection Rules, 1998 and as well did not met the license condition by controller of wildlife.

The owner was quick to response – 2 days later they relocate some of the crocodiles to the 15 new ponds.

Damai Beach Kuching

Damai Beach Kuching is one of the many beautiful beaches in Kuching. On a weekday Damai Beach Kuching don’t get much attention but when it come to the weekend Damai Beach Kuching flood with lot of visitors.

The local do not normally wear bikini or anything that too short to reveal their skins – not that they are shy but probably because they don’t like sunburn as much as the westerner do.

Boulevard Kuching Wong Fei-Hung Theme Yangqin Performance

Boulevard Kuching – A group of young artist giving free yangqin performance to the public on the 3rd day of Chinese New Year here in Kuching.

When we talk about Wong Fei-Hung 黄飞鸿 we would undoubtedly thought of the god of drunken and martial arts guru in Hong Kong film history Jackie Chan & Jet Li. In fact the biggest Wong Fei-Hung identity was the movie’s theme song – for many it was like a national anthem.

I love these beautiful Yangqin 扬琴 instrument, these kids are so inspiring and truly blowing my mind away by their skills. It would be a shame if no one enjoy the art of Yangqin and the talents from this group of young artists.

Kuching in Cheongsam 2011

Kuching cat statue greeting public in cheongsam to celebrate the coming Chinese new Year. “Meow Meow” may this year brings more awesome cash and abundance of love and good health. Gong Xi Fa Cai!

In China the main attraction for tourist would be visiting the statue of the modern father Dr. Sun Yat-Sen. I know you’re familiar with Statue of Liberty in NYC but In Kuching we have cat statue.

Kucing in Malay means Cat. The local Melayu Sarawak call it Pusak.

We have 3 (almost) identical cats statue in Kuching but the one shown here is special – This cat get a cloth change in every festival.
