Sometime the most enjoyable breakfast is the simplest one. Breakfast with cracker and coffee for example – it’s like blast from the the pass. Do you have your story with cracker & coffee?

Most of us at home love crackers and dip in coffee – it just like you can live without a Maggie!

Breakfast: Brown Rice Meat Porridge

Normally if you’re recovering from a fever the best meal would be porridge. Since your appetite is not on the best of mood, porridge can serve as a well-okay-well-just-right meal to give your body something to digest.

I had this porridge this morning. As shown in the picture the rice use for porridge is not the normal white rice. You notice there’s a mixed of brown rice produce by the local farmer.

The brown rice was known to contained high nutrition the skillful mixed of brown rice and sweet white rice makes this porridge taste really smooth and yummy.

Cooking brown rice is a very tricky business not many find brown rice sexy and mouthwatering especially kids. I did not like brown rice even till today but with this very special brown rice meat porridge I can have another bowl to go.

Laksa Sarawak and Milk Can

One of the food attraction in Kuching is Laksa Sarawak. The awesome thing is if you ask around in Kuching you will gets lot of recommendation for Laksa Sarawak – all of them were pretty good.

Kuchingites love to tapao their food in the weekend – not so much during weekdays, maybe emergency cases rushing for time in the morning to get their young to school tapao seem to be a good idea.

This is how a tapao is done in Kuching – it is almost a norm to kuchingites. although these day kuchingite are more aware of the use of plastic bag for hot contain maybe harmful to health.

The signature tapao style that won’t happen in Western Country

I have my Laksa Sarawak tapao and what’s missing? realize I need a drink!

Guess what’s the drink inside the milk can?

This cylindrical metal container use to be very famous Tapao style in the pass. Not many coffees shop in Kuching doing it these day.

In the old days – this is a famous way for take away drink. I guess kuchingite have already learn how to do recycle way ahead the future.

Kuching Mua Chi

Ladies and gentlemen, this is my favorite food and it is called “Mua Chi”. I am having this snack for breakfast! Not sure if it fattening but I think should be very minimum from the Mua Chi’s dough and peanuts. It’s sweet, it’s chewy and importantly it’s rain with peanuts! a lot of peanuts!

Happy wednesday and you have a great rainy peanuts like my Mua Chi with cup of tea!

Today is the Month 6th 1st day of lunar calendar! (六月廿一) Buddhism practice every 1st and 15th of the lunar calendar a vegetarian day.

Today we going have something meatless.

Egg Tarts
I missed the Egg Tarts from Macau and I am so regret that I only buy one box before I depart Macau! Oh God the deliciousness can still make me mouthwatering with my imagination!

Popiah

All these foods are good for vegetarian – personally I think popiah is the best food.

Its Friday today and its end of the week you’re going to filled your empty tummy with alcohol anyway!? No?

So shut up and eat your breakfast!

I don’t go happy hour though… I would go if beautiful girl invite me, any invitation please?

Reason #2

Its first week of the month, right? You have just got your salary!

You can’t be too stingy to filled your tummy with a bowl of hand made noodle today eh?

This hand made noodle is from the corner shop next to Fock Hai (Hock Hai)

Reason #3

Some of you would be hitting the gym this evening after the whole week of excuses.

Since hitting the gym burns more calories and fat, you just have to stuff your tummy with good breakfast!

(shit? Not going to gym tonight? You’re just a big fat liar with so much excuses! Hahahahha)

Man, you got to give this Char Siu Pao devil a try! Char Siu means fried red pork!

as bad as it seem, she still enjoy the breakfast! So do you have any funky excuses like “I don’t uses chopstick”? :p

Kuching Breakfast: Roti Kahwin & Kolok Mee

Da Ren is the name of the coffee shop. Here in Kuching some funny name base on the local popularity would be copied all over. Da Ren means Big Man in Mandarin.

You would also found Big Hand Coffee shop, Big Mouth, Big Thumb etc… In Kuching.

Funny eh?

This Kolok Mee claim to be originate from Sunday Market. If you’re a tourist, you must visit Sunday Market at Satok. You’ll get to see the local people selling the local fruits and Veggies and among other household items.

Taste good? If I crave of noodle and if am at this location, this Kolok Mee would come first.

Roti Kahwin (Sandwich bread)

This is Roti Kahwin known by local people. Kahwin means marry/married and Roti means bread in Bahasa Melayu. Married Bread!? Let your imagination run wild

Kuching Breakfast: Kampua

For those of you who love Kampua I do recommend you to try Kampua @ Lee Coffee shop (Lao Lee) This one taste quite good.

Kampua is Chinese Foochow famous dish/noodle in Sibu, Sarawak. Like in Kuching, you look for Kolok Mee but in Sibu you look for Kampua. Kampua normally are handmade and I think they still do.

If you want a real good and big dish of Kampua, you have to travel to Sibu. I think you will like Sibu for the foods a lot! Sibu serve their food in big portion with a great deal. Kampua in Sibu normally are between RM2 – RM3. I use to ate that for RM1.60 8 or 9 years ago. One thing still stay true to Sibu’s Spirit – food are in BIG portion!

Have you tried Kampua before? If you’re traveling to Kuching, Sarawak… Don’t forget to give kampua a try!

Tried Fried Banana before? Other than Popiah, I love Keng Chio Kueh! If you hate eating banana, you can try Fried Banana or Keng Chio Kueh. I think we should call this one a Banana Puff.

Flat Kolok/kolo Mee

Kolok Mee = Kuching, NO Kolok Mee NO Kuching. There’s two variant of this noodle. One is handmade and the other is machine made! Hahahaha Which ever version you love, Kuching is the place to look for such awesome noodle. Remind me of Japanese Ramen though!

Lee Coffee Shop or Lao Lee as known by the local people served lot of awesome local foods. I have tried their Chai Tao Kueh and “Jian Tui” (basically it’s a peanut puff – something like that)

I love this Chai Tao Kueh and Peanut Puff

This is my breakfast and I’m lucky to see the auntie making the Popiah live while I’m standing back and snap away the process! (awesome I know LOL)
