Orangutan really look a lot like us they caress their kids like human do. Orangutan in Lok Kawi seem to be less active.In Kuching however the ranger have to call them in from the wild life. Orangutan in Kuching in not in captive.

Here’s three more photos from my visit last Christmas to Lok Kawi Wild Life Park for the second time. This animal never fail to amaze me with their naive and slow moment. They don’t seem to afraid of height, the bear were some meter height shelter and relaxing when I took the photos.

Wildlife and nature at your door step and I have seen perhaps one of the greatest loves of all right at the Lok Kawi doorstep for real this time. Tigers show their love and affection almost as romantic as human does except they have sharp tooth.

Please check out some of these photos taken at Lok Kawi – the rain must have trigger the behavior of these carnivores in a way that we don’t normally see.

Tribute to Borneo Pygmy Elephant

I read the news from the TheStar on the 23rd Feb that a Borneo Pygmy Elephant had died.

Rocco was 27 years old died due to recumbence a prolonged lying according to the Sabah Wildlife Dept senior veterinarian Dr. Sen Nathan.

This photos tribute is for Rocco. I took these photos last year when I visited Lok Kawi Wildlife Park.

Malayan Tiger’s In Lok Kawi

This photo is in response to the Hotshots column on Digital Camera Magazine (Malaysia) Issue 62 by Mohd. Nasier Lee a winner for February 2011.

When I visited Lok Kawi Wildlife Park last year I was devastated, taken for a cheap ride by cab driver that over charging. The cab driver makes me feel guilty as if the whole incident was my fault because I agreed to his term.

If you ever visiting Kota Kinabalu Sabah and planning to visit Lok Kawi Wildlife Park, DO NOT take the cab from the hotel if possible. They only allow you to stay at the park for two hours after which they have to charge you for extra time. It seem alright until you realize the 2 hours is not enough time for you to appreciate the awesome scenery in the park.

Take the cab outside the hotel and they allow you for whole day on call with much cheaper fare. The extra time RM50 per 30 minutes is slaughtering and not worth your sweat to spend on unethical cab driver.

I only manage to take the picture above which is the Malayan Tiger turn his back on me. I like this picture a lot.

If you’re in Lok Kawi Wildlife Park you don’t want to miss this guy! Planning to visit Lok Kawi? Here’s what you should know about Malayan Sun Bear.

The Malayan Sun Bear is the smallest bear in the world.
The word “heli” is Sun “arctos” is bear.
The hair is short and entirely black except for a white spot or V-Shape mark on the upper chest.
Sun bear are large powerfully built; head is large and flexible muzzle omnivorous mammals with a short tail and a good sense of smell but poor sight and hearing.
Of all the bears this is the most agile climber and spends a great time in trees.
Sun bears feeds on fruit and leave gathered directly from the branches apart from termites, bee nests and small mammals by using their front paws and long tongue.
In the wild, Sun bears live solitary and is mainly active at night and spends the day basking in the sun sleeping.
Female bear gave birth to their cubs on the ground in a secluded spot and remain with their parents for up to 2 years.

We were greeted by these 2 birds as we entering the birds park. I don’t remember how long I stare up the trees but I know I was blown away by these crazy birds.

Lok Kawi Ostrich

It’s love at first sight visiting Lok Kawi Wildlife Park in Kota Kinabalu Sabah. However, I was disappointed by not being able to see everything in the park because we were limited to only 2 hours by the cab driver when I was there.

As to why I am only there for 2 hours? Long story short I took the cab from the hotel that promises us to the park for RM250 and only realized Lok Kawi is such an awesome place and that 2 hours doesn’t do justice.

If you’re visiting Lok Kawi Wildlife Park in the future please do not use taxi that offer their service from a hotel. Unless you’re are fine with it other wise, please held the taxi from any where on the street and tell them you wanted to go to Lok Kawi.

RM100 being the cheapest, and these cab drivers do not mind to wait for you and they are lot more friendlier than those that servicing at the hotel.

Don’t get me wrong here, I do not mind to pay RM200 for the trip but I really mind when 2 hours is too short to appreciate the wild life at the park.

I love to see Elephant but at the same time afraid it run amok like the one in TV where the circus clown was crush to death! Very beautiful animal.
