Here’s three more photos from my visit last Christmas to Lok Kawi Wild Life Park for the second time. This animal never fail to amaze me with their naive and slow moment. They don’t seem to afraid of height, the bear were some meter height shelter and relaxing when I took the photos.

My last visit to Jong’s Crocodile Farm was in october 2007 and during my visit I took a photo of Malayan Sunbear (Helaretos Malayanus). Today’s visit is to see if our Malayan Sunbear is doing okay and how big have they grown.

These Malayan Sunbear is the smallest bear in the world and they seem very lazy – remind me of the Koala Bear. My sunday has been great and I’m happy to report that the bears is doing fantastic and posing for camera beautifully. (check out the photos)

Do you know? Sarawak The Land of Hornbills is also famous for one other thing – head hunters! is the also reason how James Brooke became the first Rajah in Sarawak.

The best time to visit Jong’s Crocodile Farm
The Feeding time of the crocs is at 11am and 3pm. The opening hours of Jong’s Crocodile Farm is from 9am to 5pm. I missed the feeding time for the crocs – I’d love to take few shots of the jumping crocs.

I really enjoy watching the peacocks although he did not really pose for me that much! other attraction that may interest you includes Arapaima Pond, Skull of Bujang Senang, world first Tomistoma Breeding, Jungle walk and etc…

Controversial
Jong’s Crocodile Farm in Jun 2011 was pressured by the Anti-animal cruelty through media in demand to follow their recommendation for the crocodiles and other animals in the captive. The Hong Kong-based anti animal cruelty group believe the farm owner has violated the Sarawak Wild Life Protection Rules, 1998 and as well did not met the license condition by controller of wildlife.

The owner was quick to response – 2 days later they relocate some of the crocodiles to the 15 new ponds.

Jong’s Crocodiles Farm open it door daily to all the visitors from all over the world and personally I would like to welcome you. Come! experience the kampung feels with the legend surround the almighty, Bujang Senang.

If you’re in Lok Kawi Wildlife Park you don’t want to miss this guy! Planning to visit Lok Kawi? Here’s what you should know about Malayan Sun Bear.

1. The Malayan Sun Bear is the smallest bear in the world.
2. The word “heli” is Sun “arctos” is bear.
3. The hair is short and entirely black except for a white spot or V-Shape mark on the upper chest.
4. Sun bear are large powerfully built; head is large and flexible muzzle omnivorous mammals with a short tail and a good sense of smell but poor sight and hearing.
5. Of all the bears this is the most agile climber and spends a great time in trees.
6. Sun bears feeds on fruit and leave gathered directly from the branches apart from termites, bee nests and small mammals by using their front paws and long tongue.
7. In the wild, Sun bears live solitary and is mainly active at night and spends the day basking in the sun sleeping.
8. Female bear gave birth to their cubs on the ground in a secluded spot and remain with their parents for up to 2 years.
